Files Knowledge Source

The Files Knowledge Source allows you to add unstructured data from your local files. This includes documents, presentations, and other content that is not structured in a specific format.

When adding a knowledge source, you will be prompted to provide a name and description. These fields are mandatory, and it is recommended to keep them relevant to the content of the knowledge source. This helps with future reference and provides clearer guidance on its purpose.

Supported File Types

We currently support the following file formats:

  • .md
  • .mdx
  • .pdf
  • .docx
  • .pptx
  • .html
  • .htm

We are continuously working on adding support for more file types.

Uploading Files

Once a knowledge source is created, you will be redirected to the “Upload Files” tab.

Files Upload to Knowledge Source

Here, you can choose to upload files using one of the following methods:

  • Click on the “Drag and Drop” area to select individual files.
  • Drag and drop files directly into the designated area.
  • Click on “Select Folder” to upload an entire folder. We support nested folders, and the preview will display all files that will be uploaded.

File Preview

Before uploading, a Preview Table will display all selected files. In this step, you can:

  • Remove undesired files before proceeding.
  • Fully unselect specific file types from the upload.

Upload Process

Once ready, click the “Upload” button. The files will be uploaded to our storage for processing. Do not leave the page during this process.

After the upload is complete, you will be redirected to the “Content” tab. The system will process files in the background, which may take some time depending on the number of files and the amount of content being extracted. The processing status will be displayed in the content table.
